What kinds of questions can you ask us?

Teachers or instructors sometimes find themselves faced during their courses, or at their level of training, with students who have little knowledge of the Dutch language. If they are anxious to make the Dutch language more accessible to this group of people, they may turn to Cornerstone 2 to organise suitable training or offer coaching.
Language teachers whose task is to offer lessons or linguistic support for specific target groups or in a specific environment need suitably adapted teaching material for this purpose. Cornerstone 2 can help to find this kind of material or produce it themselves.
Organisations (schools, those providing training, employers?) facing difficulties related to languages often take steps themselves to remedy this situation. Cornerstone 2 can assist them in making a more detailed assessment of the obstacles, whilst helping them to integrate everything into a consistent language policy plan.

If you have a question of this kind, you may get in touch with Gunther Van Neste (the Centre's director) or Philippe Vangeneugden (Cornerstone 2 coordinator). We can then arrange to have an exploratory interview in order to gain a good understanding of your question and to decide on a suitable system of support or cooperation.

The resources of the Flemish Community Commission, and more specifically those derived from the Urban Fund (Stedenfonds) and Training for Employment (Opleiding tot Werken), provide an opportunity for a team comprising a few employees to work on supervisory activities and projects agreed on each year. Subsequent consultations may be used for us to consider the initiatives that may be included in the team's projects or we can take a look together at the scope for additional projects or alternative funding channels.

Consultations about the quality support activities of the Dutch Language House are held first of all within the Cornerstone 2 steering group, where a whole series of partners are represented. They discuss overall planning. The steering group also acts as a consultation forum for the action the partners themselves take to boost quality. Various subworking groups are involved in keeping a close watch on the endeavours and offering meaningful advice. A "subworking group on Socio-Professional Integration" and a "subworking group on School and Parents" are currently operating under Cornerstone 2.
