 | | | General background
The Dutch Language House of Brussels is in a class of its own. The task that the other Dutch Language Houses in Flanders are carrying out is performed within the context of Cornerstone 1 in Brussels. This first Cornerstone is brought up to strength with a further two Cornerstones.
The House's Cornerstone 3 is involved in promoting the Dutch language in Brussels.
Cornerstone 3 is the one with the longest track record. For many years now, both the Flemish Community and the Flemish Community Commission have been toying with the idea of creating a service for promoting Dutch in Brussels.
In the end, the Flemish Community - Brussels Region Affairs - took up the challenge in 2003. It took responsibility for developing the Brussels Dutch Language House's third Cornerstone and overall coordination.
In spite of the long track record, the Dutch Language House's third Cornerstone is still in full expansion. So creative ideas are more than welcome!
