Allez:NL = an entire day to practise Dutch, throughout Brussels

24/11/2022 — Allez:NL, a whole day to practise Dutch in the Belgian capital, took place. Hundreds of Brussels residents participated in a variety of Dutch-language sporting, cultural and other activities throughout the day. The event is an initiative by the Dutch Language House Brussels.

Allez:NL was organised for the third time. Hundreds of participants and 50 organisations met during 70 activities across Brussels. From rapping, spraying graffiti, making radio or theatre, to the new city game Plonge: there was something for everyone, in Dutch.

Flemish Minister for Brussels Affairs, Youth, Media and Poverty Reduction Benjamin Dalle and rapper Jeune Kash kicked off the day. Minister Dalle actively supports the initiative: Allez:NL is an annual event for all those learning Dutch in our capital city. A day on which Dutch is celebrated as a connecting language and participants can explore our rich Dutch-speaking network in all its glory. A network full of dynamic organisations that we as a community can be extremely proud of.”

Director of the Dutch Language House Brussels, Patrick Manghelinckx: We organise Allez:NL to encourage Dutch language practice and remove barriers. Participants get to explore the Dutch-speaking network in Brussels and connect with each other. They might not always feel able to practise and put the Dutch language to use in Brussels, but this day allows them to discover a fantastic range of opportunities for doing just that and for getting acquainted with a wealth of organisations where they are more than welcome.”

Beursschouwburg was the central location of the event. We hope this day planted the seed among participants and organisations to continue growing and connecting together.
