Huis van het Nederlands Brussel launches a new handbook ‘Duidelijk Nederlands op school’

May 15th 2019 – Huis van het Nederlands Brussel launches a new handbook Duidelijk Nederlands op school’ (Clear Dutch at school) at the primary school Maria Onbevlekt Instituut in Anderlecht.

As of today, all schools in the Flemish Community in Brussels dispose of a new handbook specifically designed for their teachers and other staff. The Duidelijk Nederlands op School (Clear Dutch at School) guide is intended to help schools communicate more clearly with parents who do not yet have a perfect command of Dutch.

As a teacher, how do you explain something to parents who do not speak perfect Dutch? A dozen teachers from the primary school Maria Onbevlekt Instituut in Anderlecht today discovered a number of tips and tricks for facilitating such communication.

The tips form part of the workshops that Huis van het Nederlands Brussel has been giving school teams for a number of years. Those have now been incorporated into a new Duidelijk Nederlands op School (Clear Dutch at School) practical guide.
