For Whom?

You want to learn Dutch, but…

  • you don’t have time for lessons?
  • you have to wait a long time for the start of the course?
  • you don’t want to sit in a class?
  • you’re already having lessons and you want to practise more?

Info and advice

We help you choose which self-study package suits you best:

  • What is your level of Dutch?
  • Do you prefer to work with a book? Or a CD-ROM? Or would you like information about websites?
  • Do you want to work on your grammar? Your vocabulary? Or something else?
  • What do you want to improve? Reading, writing, speaking or listening?

We also give tips on how and where you can practise your Dutch in real situations.

Material

We don’t sell books or CD-ROMs. The Taalgarage isn’t a library. We do, however, provide information on where you can buy or borrow material. The Taalgarage works with the libraries in Brussels, www.brusselsebibliotheken.be, where you can find the right materials.

Self-study

After visiting the Taalgarage, you start teaching yourself. We don’t supervise your study but we do give you tips so that you can plan your study as well as possible.

After a couple of months, we send you a questionnaire: Did you find the right material? Have you started your self-study?
